Set Dates and Times for Learning Activities

BrainHoney allows you to assign specific dates for each learning activity, including those that are not gradable.

Visible from date – determines when a learning activity becomes visible to students. If this is not set, it is immediately visible when students first start the section (unless the activity has been assigned the “Withhold from students” property).
Due date – determines when a gradable learning activity is due.
Results visible from date – determines when results are visible to students.

When you specify a date with a time, BrainHoney interprets the time to be in your current time zone. For example, if you live in Denver and your computer is set to Denver's (Mountain) time zone, and you make an item due on May 10 at 3PM, then students in Denver see the item due at 3PM on the 10th, and students in California (Pacific time zone) see the item due at 2PM on the 10th.

If you specify a time as 11:59 PM, then BrainHoney interprets the time as end of day regardless of the student's time zone. For example, if you specify a due date of May 10 11:59PM, then students in Denver, California, or New York all see the item due on May 10th (BrainHoney does not display a due time), which implies the item is due at the end of day on the 10th regardless of which time zone you live in.

Dates for an activity are defined in the Syllabus window.

1.

In the Syllabus window, select the activity, and from the Edit menu, click Selected Activity. The Assessment box displays. The properties box for the learning activity displays.

2.

To set the due date for the activity, check the Due date and time checkbox, and then select the date on the calendar. You may also select a time.

3.

To specify the date that the activity or the grade will be available to students, check the Restrict Visibility by Date checkbox.

4.

To specify the date that the activity will be visible to students, click the calendar button beside the Visible from box and select the date, and optionally the time.

5.

To specify the date that the grades and feedback will be available to students, click the calendar button beside the Results visible box and select the date and optionally the time.

6.

When you have finished setting the necessary dates, click Done.
